Lantern not hopping in Aussie

DC Comics and Warner Bros Pictures continues its shaky downward spiral through its latest set of oncoming adaptations, this time it comes in the form of “The Green Lantern”. This particular production has been on the ball compared to the “Justice League” feature that is in and out of production hell. Below is an excerpt from The Hollywood Reporter that tells more:

green-lanternThe studio said that “the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs,” forced the decision, in a statement issued through agency Screen NSW.

“We have also had to reassess film projects in other countries as well,” it said. “After working closely with our partners at the NSW Film and Television Office (Screen NSW) and examining every scenario, we have decided to move the production of ‘Green Lantern.’ We are extremely grateful for the assistance we have received from the NSW Government, Fox Studios and the NSW filmmaking community,” the statement finished.

At the moment location for this science fiction comic book adaptation seems to be going towards either Mexico or Canada. Martin Campbell is attached to direct along with Ryan Reynolds in the starring role as Hal Jordan. The film is currently slated for a June 17, 2011 release date.
