Kwapis brings Dilbert to the big screen
No, Ken Kwapis is not doing a CGI animation version of Dilbert, despite what you first thought. Instead he’s doing a live action feature film of Dilbert for all to see. Phoenix and Intrigue Entertainment are teaming up in order to bring this live action version of the comic onto the big screen with Ken Kwapis directing, reports Pajiba. This appears pretty fitting, having Kwapis on board, mainly because he’s directed several episodes of The Office which Dilbert could be closely related to in the white-collar sense.
The long-running comic strip, created by Scott Adams, has been in publication in newspapers nationwide ever since 1989. At one point, in 1999, there was actually a short-lived animated series that appeared on UPN. Despite that, the white-collar office humorous comic strip series is one that a lot of people are familiar with to some degree. No word yet on who will sign up to be part of the cast, but since they’re going ahead with this production you bet that we’ll be getting more information soon.
