Kitsch hops onto Battleship

Taylor Kitsch is reported to be taking on the leading role in the upcoming board game turned feature called Battleship. Peter Berg is directing the action flick from the script penned by Jon and Erich Hoeber. The script sees an international fleet come together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin (THR).

Kitsch is best known for his role as Tim Riggins in the popular television show Friday Night Lights and as the Ragin Cajun Remy LeBeau in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This is not the first time he’s taken on a leading role, the one he’s latched onto previous to this is the science fiction adventure film John Carter of Mars.

Since Kitsch will be the leading man in Battleship, that clearly rules The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner from the running. Battleship is expected to be released on May 25th, 2012 from Universal Pictures.
