Johns promises an action-packed Superman movie
One of the biggest complaints about Singer’s Superman Returns was the lack of action, and the fact that Superman threw not one punch. Now that DC Entertainment will be rebooting the franchise, one thing that’ll change is the inclusion of more action. CCO of DC Entertainment, Geoff Johns was asked at the NYCC (via Cinema Blend) about what we could expect from The Man of Steel, and rather subtly hinted at an action-packed film. ”I don’t know if you can ask for much more than Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder. We’re really lucky to have them on board. I’m psyched. [Superman will] be punching something,” he said.
With a villain like General Zod, one can expect nothing less than a fantastic battle between the two Kryptonians. However, it was recently revealed that Snyder wasn’t the top choice, and the studio wanted someone that could fix David Goyer’s script quickly (here). This seems to confirm that as Snyder has shown he can mix action and drama in his films. Many have also been worried if Snyder would get out-of-hand with his style of using slow-mo and gore, which Superman hasn’t been known for. But with Nolan producing, things should be fine. Production on The Man of Steel is looking begin sometime next year, with a release in late-2012.

Sounds good to me, although I did love Superman Returns, this new project has me extremely excited.
