Jackie Earle Haley as Sinestro?
Jackie Earle Haley is a character actor that is greatly admired by all, especially within the past year. From taking on the role of Rorschach in Zack Snyder’s underappreciated comic book adaptation of Watchmen to his upcoming role as the night terror Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare On Elm Street remake, there’s no telling what he’ll be landing in next. Well, maybe there is. HitFix is reporting that the Shutter Island cast member could be donning the villain role once again, but this time in yet another comic book adaptation in the form of DC Comics and Warner Bros Pictures’ The Green Lantern.
That’s right folks, there’s tons of speculation swirling about that Haley will be taking on the role of Sinestro. In the DC Universe, he’s the mentor of Hal Jordan who’s wrongdoings banish him from the Green Lantern Corps. and inevitably makes him hellbent on revenge against the organization. Now, there already was a report yesterday that actor Peter Sarsgaard was casted onto The Green Lantern as Dr. Hector Hammond, but it looks like DC is going the two villain route and still apparently has an opening for a second one to the story line.
Time will only tell if Haley will end up being the villainous Sinestro, or if they will choose some other villain altogether. Regardless, with a character as big as him, it’s only a matter of time until he appears in the Green Lantern universe. Filming commences in March in New Orleans with Martin Campbell directing. Also already on the cast is Ryan Reynolds as the title character and Blake Lively as Carol Ferris.

He should be in everything ever. His performance in “Little Children” was phenomenal.

Now we believe Sinestro might be either Tim Robbins or Mark Strong.
