Jack Ryan returns
The all-American hero, Jack Ryan from Tom Clancy, is set to return in Moscow, according to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (via Collider). The hero hasn’t been seen since Ben Affleck took on a younger version of the character in Sum of All Fears in 2002. Harrison Ford famously played the character a few times in Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games. But the character got his first appearance from Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for the Red October. So who’s to play him now? How about Paramount’s own Chris Pine from Star Trek?
“We have a very good script,” di Bonaventura says about the tentatively titled Moscow. “I’m very happy with where we are today and we’re looking forward, maybe with a little luck, to starting next late winter, early spring.” The film won’t be based on any Tom Clancy novel, like the previous films had been, bu it should follow Ryan has he tries to clear his name in a terrorist plot.
“With Chris in this role, we’ve taken our first step in creating a re-boot that lives up to the successful lineage of the franchise,” says the studio. It was also revealed that Jack Ryan would return before Capt. Kirk. Thoughts?
