Ivan Reitman in for Ghostbusters 3
Ivan Reitman is taking up the mantle of directing Ghostbusters 3, and along with that he’s spewing out to MTV Movies Blog stuff on the script. There’s been several versions of the script of the third installment that have been floating about for awhile now, but the newest draft is penned up by Year One scribes Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. Here’s what Reitman had to say on it all.:
“They have delivered a draft,” Reitman said of the script’s progress. “We are working our way through another draft… good work is being done and all of us have our fingers crossed.”
What he wouldn’t do was address exactly what that “good work” entailed. Asked about (Sigourney) Weaver’s recent comments, Reitman laughed and kept things light.
“I’m not going to comment on what’s in the script and what Sigourney may or may not have said,” he told us. “She’s been so busy on ‘Avatar’, I’ve not been able to find her. There’s some very cool things in the new draft, let’s just put it that way.”
“I hope to start shooting this year,” he said, giving weight to (Harold) Ramis’ recent comments about a planned 2011 release date.
Okay, so he did not tell us anything about the script at all. Fans once again are left to speculate. It still is rather unsettling that he neither confirmed or denied all of the things that Sigourney Weaver said about the draft of Ghostbusters 3, mainly because she denied even reading a new script and he didn’t touch upon that. Since production will be starting sometime soon you’ll be sure to hear more about this franchise.

don’t care about the rumors, so long as Reitman is attached im happy!!!
