Is Mulligan the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?
With the hit Swedish film finishing off its theatrical rounds in America before heading to DVD and Blu-ray in July-and just in time for the sequel, The Girl Who Played with Fire-seems like the American remake of the film is starting to gain steam. Carey Mulligan, last seen in the Best Picture nominated film, An Education, seems the likeliest of candidates now. According to Times Online, she was given the thumbs up by the remake’s director David Fincher (Zodiac, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), as well as approval from the late author’s family, from a casting call of 5,000 actresses.
“I am obsessed with those books. I would love to do them. I am not going to lie about that. I would love to play Lisbeth Salander,” said Carey Mulligan recently. She has big shoes to fill, with Noomi Rapace, who played Lisbeth in the Swedish film, a role many critics raved about, including us (here).
