Is it prequel time for Bourne?

The idea of there being a fourth installment in the Bourne franchise has been batted around for months ever since the 2007 release of The Bourne Ultimatum. Universal Pictures jumps around with the notion of trying to wrangle back Matt Damon to reprise his role, but ever since the release of Ultimatum he’s made it perfectly known that he will not come back to do another film without Paul Greengrass helming the feature. Is the possibility of a reboot entirely out of the question though? Empire Online got to corner Damon on the red carpet and got this out of him.:

“There’ll probably be a prequel of some kind with another actor and another director before we do another one,” he said, “just because I think we’re probably another five years away from doing it – we’ve got to get a script…”

For all we know, the Bourne series could sit back in development hell for awhile until they try to bring back Damon. Universal could be balls-y enough to go and just completely revitalize the franchise which is still very popular in it’s right that it just absolutely makes no sense for them to do a move like that. Regardless, everything at this moment is purely speculation, and this is where we open it up to you. Do you think they should try and even do a fourth Bourne movie or just leave it be as a solid trilogy?

I've been in love with film ever since I was a kid. The time, effort and passion that runs through a majority most film is something that's always attracted me to this field. What ended up happening with my big appetite for all things going on in the industry turned from random blurbs on Facebook to an unexpected but fun job. College student by day, movie news writer by early morning...or any time in the day and night when more news arrives. Working towards my bachelor's degree in film, what a surprise. I do other things too, like draw, write stories, maintain a social life and feed my pet dragon Lockheed. If you want to know more about me, hunt me down and just ask.

give it the 5 years like he said, then yea, if they feel the need to do another one, go for it.
