Iron Man 3 has a release date
Following Paramount Studios dealing Disney with the rights to release The Avengers and further Marvel films, Comic Book Movie is saying that Disney has placed a May 3rd, 2013 release date on the third Iron Man film. This film will be the fourth appearance of the character, following the Joss Whedon-directed team-up in The Avengers the year prior.

With Downey starring in the new Sherlock Holmes sequel, The Avengers, and other films, it’ll be interesting to see how this new date lines up for the busy actor. Jon Favreau hasn’t committed himself to a third film, but it seems likely. And does the villain, the Mandarin. We shall see.

I hope they go with the “Demon in a bottle” storyline, but I think it would be a bit dark for Disney. I hope it’s an improvement over the second. IM2 was fun, but lacked the charm the first had.

I agree, but they sort of hinted at that arc in IM2. I’d prefer IM3 to be Avenger-less. Remember, Marvel is making the films, Disney is only releasing, perhaps via Buena Vista or something similar.

I agree, it shouldn’t have as many references to The Avengers, but I think it would be cool to see Thor, or any of the others show up and help IM fight. It won’t happen, but it would be cool. Just give us more War Machine action.
