Indiana shoots will be important to Transfomers 3

This article contains SPOILERS for Transformers 3.

Now that Michael Bay is done blowing up the streets of Chicago, he’s moving on to Gary, Indiana. This will be the second time the crew has filmed in that location since filming began in late May. However, like the Chicago shoots, these particular shoots will be important to the story.

According to the Post-Tribune, filming will involve a scene between NEST soldier Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and Optimus Prime.  The scene involve Lennox finding an unknown item, with Prime starring down at him. The crew spent time turning Gary’s Majestic Star Casino into that of an abandoned building in the Russian snow. Bay chose Gary to film that particular scene because he wanted a location that gave off the look of a foreign country. “We were looking for a place to emulate a foreign country with a series of abandoned buildings,” Producer Ian Bryce said.

After the second film was panned by the critics and moviegoers, Bay has promised a more coherent story this time. “A very important piece of information is revealed in this scene,” producer  Lorenzo di Bonaventura said. So, just how important are these scenes? Well, the story apparently won’t make any sense without them. “The movie makes no sense without it,” diBonaventura said. The story will center on the space race between Soviet Russia and The United States, with Shockwave as the primary villain.

Transformers 3 will open on July 1, 2011.
