Hugo Cabret sets itself up for 3D

Martin Scorsese’s latest directed picture The Invention of Hugo Cabret is joining up on the third dimension train as Sony Pictures not only announced this particular release of the film but also it’s date in theaters. Hugo Cabret is poised to come out in theaters and in 3D on December 9th, 2011, which in this reporter’s opinion is fairly sooner than expected (in a good way). Scorsese has never dealt with making one of his films in 3D, so this is the first which will provide to be very interesting given that the material is also based off of a children’s novel.

Orphan, clock keeper, and thief, Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric, bookish girl and a bitter old man who runs a toy booth in the station, Hugo’s undercover life, and his most precious secret, are put in jeopardy. A cryptic drawing, a treasured notebook, a stolen key, a mechanical man, and a hidden message from Hugo’s dead father form the backbone of this intricate, tender, and spellbinding mystery.

Those already a part of the cast include Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley. The John Logan adapted script, based off the novel written by Brian Selznick, will begin principal photography this June in London.
