Hughes Bros dedunk Efron/Akira rumor

If you were not happy by the news that Zac Efron was offered the lead role in the live action Akira adaptation, you can rest easy. Reps for the Hughes Brothers (who are directing the project) have stated that the rumors involving Zac Efron and the film are ‘not true’. Earlier this month we gave you the story which mentioned Efron and the rumors (here). Speculation and discussions on the subject have been buzzing ever since. I imagine all of this have gotten the Hughes Brothers to get some kind of word out about what is going on. Nothing was mentioned about Morgan Freeman being in talks for the film, a sign perhaps that is true?
