Hudgens climbing onto the Marvel boat?

That’s the impression being given by MTV UK (via Screen Rant) as they reveal that Beastly star Vanessa Hudgens is one of the front runners for a feature film version of Spider Woman. Here’s a little snippet from the article that displays the interest of having her don a Marvel uniform.

A movie insider stated: “The idea is for this to be a fun, comedic movie and Vanessa is perfect for the title role,”

They added: “Spider Woman is strong and sexy but in this case hilarious.Vanessa is apparently very interested in the idea,”

Spider Woman a.k.a. Jessica Drew was created in the Marvel comic universe in 1931 as a young woman with Uranium poisoning who gets injected with an untested serum with the blood of several spiders. From then she developed bio-electric powers, quickly spawning off into a life of adventure and danger as the masked hero. This sudden announcement should not come as a surprise to any of you, given the fact that yesterday Marvel made the big announcement that they would do low-budget feature films on their lesser known heroes (like Ka-Zar, Dr. Strange, etc).

Hudgens is set to appear in Beastly with co-star Alex Pettyfer in theaters on July 30th. For all of you Marvel fans, do you think that Hudgens would be a fine choice as Jessica Drew/Spider Woman? Or would you prefer to see someone else in the role?
