Hood is eyeing Alaska
Tsotsi and X-Men Origins: Wolverine director Gavin Hood is sinking his teeth into an untitled project that’s said to be set as an Alaskan adventure. The picture is based on the book called The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic which was written by Gay and Laney Salisbury. This is based on the true story centers on a 674-mile journey undertaken by 20 men and 200 dogs who rushed a diphtheria antidote to Nome, Alaska, in 1925. The group braved temperatures of minus-60 degrees, a phenomenon known as ice fog and other dangers, capturing the attention of the lower 48 states (THR).
At this point the story line might sound familiar to you, but that’s mainly if you watched the live action/mainly animation feature Balto and remember the whole dog story. Of course this isn’t going to be based on one dog this time around. Producing is Mark Johnson with scribes Sean O’Keefe and Will Staples penning the adaptation. Filming is set to start up in the summer under Walden Media.
