Highlander to get a reboot?
While Russell Mulcahy’s Highlander wasn’t well-received upon it’s initial release in 1986, the film has become a cult classic, and shot Christopher Lambert to stardom. However, the sequels have not gained that same status, and have been panned by most fans, especially Highlander 2: The Quickening. And after five films, it looks like Highlander will join the ranks of upcoming reboots.
According to Live For Films, the sixth installment in the series, known as Highlander: The Reckoning, will serve as a reboot of the franchise. Justin Lin (Fast and Furious) is attached to direct, with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man) penning the script. The story will follow “an Immortal from the highlands of Scotland, once trained by ancient Immortal Ramirez, fighting in modern times against other immortals in a “contest” called the Gathering; a contest whose ultimate end line is that there can be only one.”
Vinnie Jones (X-Men: The Last Stand, The Condemned, Year One) is rumored to be playing the villain, Kurgan. But that has yet to be confirmed. Many may be upset with this news, but seeing how the sequels have turned out, a reboot may not be such a bad idea. There’s no word on who’ll portray McCloud just yet.

If Connor(Christopher Lambert) chops off Duncan’s(Adrien Paul) head, I’ll watch it.
I can’t get on board … I am too much of an original fangirl, and Vinnie Jones does not suit Kurgan
