Gyllenhaal is looking for a Code

Submitted by Melissa Molina on November 9, 2009 – 9:49 amOne Comment

jake-gyllenhaal-1207-lgJake Gyllenhaal is in the middle of negotiations to star in the new film Source Code. The story centers on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it (Variety). This will be the first film under Vendome Pictures and will be distributed domestically through Summit Entertainment.

Gyllenhaal will be seen co-starring with Natalie Portman in the overseas remake of the Danish film Brødre called Brothers. This film will be released on December 4th. Gyllenhaal has been garnering a lot of attention not for this film but for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Walt Disney Pictures upcoming video game adaptation Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. He dawns the role of Prince Dastan in the May release film.

A remake of “Brothers”?!? With this and the perpetually delayed/scrapped Zach Braf version of “Open Hearts”, apparently Danish director Susanne Bier is the one to emulate.

And as a huge fan of her work, I can only hope that I’m not rolling my eyes and suppressing the urge to hurt people like with the terrible remake “No Reservations”, where Aaron Eckhart and Catherine Zeta-Jones make a mockery of “Mostly Martha”.

Hollywood, make something original please. Don’t just find my favorite foreign films and ruin them. Please?
