Green Lantern staying true to it’s origins
Martin Campbell is cracking down on how exactly The Green Lantern origin story is going to be, and it’s appearing that the director is staying closer to the source material than expected. This is what the director spilled to Coming Soon.:
“I think it will stick closely to the origin story, but we all know Sinestro, for an example, is a character who goes over to the dark side, and of course, Carol, played by Blake Lively, in later versions becomes a bad guy as well. I think people will be able to see forward to the characters that in the comic went on to (become bad guys)… but people will be ahead of us on all that I think.”
With the main focus of the antagonist possibly going straight to Dr. Hector Hammond, played by Peter Sarsgaard, that could make for better development over the inevitable turning of Carol Ferris and Sinestro. One thing is for sure, Campbell knows how he’s putting together this feature.
The Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds in the title role, starring along side him is Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard and possibly Mark Strong in the role of Sinestro. Filming is expected to begin in New Orleans in March with a June 17th, 2011 release date under Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Entertainment.

Should be good. Not a big GL fan, but i’ll see it.
I happy to see a non-Superman/Batman DC hero get a silver screen opportunity.
