Goyer writing The Man of Steel

David Goyer is leaping away from one DC Comics property to the other as he gets hired to write the script for the upcoming sequel Superman: The Man of Steel. Yes, we all were under the impression that he was going back into the dark recesses of where ever to pen the script for the third Batman film, but he more than likely won’t be doing it so much now that he’s got a brand new gig. Here’s a little more on the scoop from Latino Review.:

Goyer had an idea that actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation.  Modern.  Believable.  FUN!  So Tull got Goyer hired.
The film will not be called Superman and will be called THE MAN OF STEEL.
Brandon Routh will not star in the film. Bryan Singer is not expected to direct.

I can tell you that Goyer’s story involves Luthor and Brainiac.  It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry.  I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet.  And I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology.

Now, let’s say this again, David Goyer got hired to write The Man of Steel. At least the title rolls off the tongue a lot better than adding the Superman on it. It is quite refreshing to know that Singer will not be returning to helm another Superman film since a lot of us fans still have the sour taste of Superman Returns in our mouth. Since Brandon Routh is not returning to play everyone’s favorite Kryptonian, who could be the next Superman? Any ideas or suggestions?
