Gordon-Levitt takes McAvoy’s seat

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is taking the place of James McAvoy in the upcoming Summit Entertaiment and Mandate Pictures film I’m With Cancer. The Jonathan Levine directed picture already has a large cast that includes Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston. Principal photography is already expected to start up next week with a yet to be announced release date.

The story is a comedic account of a 25-year-old guy’s cancer diagnosis, and his subsequent struggle to beat the disease. The script was penned by Will Reiser with Evan Goldberg, Ben Karlin and Rogen producing the picture. Here’s a bit more on what Rogen and Levine spilled to Coming Soon about the sudden casting change.:

Rogen stated: “It’s incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone’s control have taken James away from the project, but, with James’s blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the role of Adam. We all look forward to working with James in the future.”

Levine said: “I feel extremely lucky that our film has found an exceptional actor to step into the role of Adam. I have admired Joseph’s work since ‘Brick,’ and I am so excited to work with him.”
