Goldsman might direct Paranormal Activity 2?

Producer, writer and some-what director Akiva Goldsman is apparently in the lead to take the reigns on the constantly in-development production of Paranormal Activity 2 from Paramount Pictures. ShockTillYouDrop reports that despite the short list of directors for this picture, which include Greg McLean, Brian De Palma and Brad Anderson, he’s the one they’re the most inclined to go to. That is a little surprising, judging from the fact that he has a lot more writing and producing credits under his belt rather than directing pictures. Goldsman has yet to direct a feature film, all he’s tackled so far is a couple episodes of Fringe and one episode of Kings.

A lot of people must be wondering what happened to the director of the sudden hit Paranormal Activity, Oren Peli. He would have been considered if it was not for his prior attachment to the science fiction picture Area 51 which he wrote and directed. Paramount better hurry up and put everything together if they expect to go into competition with Saw VII in 3D this October with the set-in-stone release date for Paranormal Activity 2.
