Golden globe nominations

Today the Hollywood Foreign Press released their nominations for film and television series and as usual with the HFP there were a few surprises in the bunch as well as omissions.  Aside from the fact that they love to release nominations via press conference in the wee hours of the morning today we learn how little love the have for The Dark Knight, with the  film only scoring one nomination for best supporting actor .  Other surprises were in the supporting actor race as James Franco got a nomination as best lead actor in a comedy for his hilarious turn in Pineapple Express and Tom Cruise getting a nomination as the foul mouthed studio exec in Tropic thunder for best supporting actor in a comedy.

With today’s nominees the race has become much wider as over the past few days Revolutionary Road has gone down in favoritism as well as The Reader, yet today’s glaring omission of The Dark Knight leaves some doubt in our minds if the biggest film of the decade can make it in or not to the Oscar ballot.
