Ghostbusters 3 filming next May?

After years of talk, development on Ghostbusters 3looks to finally be happening. The film has been gaining some ground lately with Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky (The Office) to pen the script, and it was recently rumored that Sony had green-lit the film (here). Now, Production Weekly (via Bloody-Disgusting ) reports that Sony is aiming to begin production in May 2011.

It appears that all of the original cast members will be returning including Bill Murray and director Ivan Reitman. There’s not much known about the plot, but it will supposedly feature Oscar, Danna (Sigourney Weaver) and Peter Venkmen’s (Bill Murray) love child, as a new Ghostbuster. The film will most likely be released probably around the Fall of 2012.

  1. I’m sorry, but after that horrible, horrible movie, YEAR ONE, I never want to see Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky writing another movie. I don’t care how popular THE OFFICE is, those guys have shown to have little writing talent.

I still haven’t seen YEAR ONE. If Harold Ramis is directing then I am all in.

I didn’t laugh once. I have a man-crush on Paul Rudd, and he had a small part in this. He asked for his name to be removed from this production. I love dumb comedies, and it was a chore sitting through. Ramis should be ashamed to have his name attached to this tripe.

That film sucked and so will this.

  2. I’m remaining optimistic that it won’t suck. Just b/c the script for ‘Year One’ wasn’t good, it doesn’t meant this will be the same. After all, the same writers who wrote all the plot holes in Transformers wrote a great take on Abrams’ Star Trek. Even Bill Murray is apparently on board and he was always the one who bashed the writers of Year One.
