George Clooney falls into Gravity
It seemed that for a while Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity was falling apart as production has been delayed while trying to get its cast signed on. It all started when Angelina Jolie declined the role (twice), which led the studio to consider many different actresses (here and here). Then, Robert Downey, Jr. left the project (here) because of his busy schedule. However, it seems everything coming together now.
Deadline Hollywood reports that George Clooney (The American) has now joined the cast as Downey’s replacement. Clooney’s role is only that of a supporting character as the leader of a space station that gets struck by a meteor. Sandra Bullock has apparently taken the lead role as a mother attempting to return to her daughter on Earth. Production on the film is looking to begin in late-April or early-May, which will give Bullock enough time to complete filming on Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for WB.
