Gemma Arterton confirmed for Clash 2

Warner Bros. is quickly moving forward on its sequel to this year’s Clash of the Titans. However, this time the studio is making changes for a better sequel. A new director has been hired to replace Louis Leterrier, and the film will be shot in 3-D rather than a post-conversion. Sam Worthington is set to reprise his role, and now, Gemma Arterton has confirmed her return.

The actress spoke with MTV while promoting her upcoming film, The Disappearance of Alice Creed, and confirmed she’s set to star in the sequel. “I don’t know anything about it yet though. It’s one of those things,” Arterton said. She hinted in previous interviews that she wasn’t under any obligation to return, but she may have misspoke. Arterton isn’t sure what her character will be doing in the film, but does hope she gets to do more fighting. “I think she needs to be less mythical and more real and go for the fighting,” she said.

Clash of the Titans 2 is currently being written by Greg Berlanti, Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson, who will be penning the script. Jonathan Liebesman is the top contender to replace Louis Leterrier as director. Production is scheduled to begin in January, with a planned release date of Spring 2012.

  1. I enjoyed the first one enough. It’s good to know that this time they will shoot in 3D as there was no point in converting it to 3D after the fact.
