Fright Night Remake with Chris Sarandon?
JoBlo definitely got my attention this afternoon with way through the impending Fright Night remake. This time though, instead of absolute dread over what is going to transpire with one of this reporter’s favorite eighties horror movies might turn into something actually kick ass. Read below from the new turn that the story can go:
The new Fright Night was going to take a meta approach and acknowledge the existence of Holland’s film. And like the original, the Charley Brewster-like protagonist would need to enlist some help to take on a vampire menace. However, the film’s hero wouldn’t be calling on Peter Vincent, he’d be seeking out none other than actor Chris Sarandon himself, the man who played the vampire Jerry Dandrige! Together, the hero and Sarandon would take on the big bad bloodsucker.
This reporter does not know about the rest of you, but this new approach actually sounds plausible and is starting to increase the anticipation slowly but surely of this feature. Marti Noxon is currently penning this remake/reimagining of sorts under Dreamworks with a possible 2010 production start date.
As much as I don’t want to see Fright Night remade, this storyline would actually work. It would be taking the Wes Craven’s New Nightmare approach of deconstructing the film.
I concur with Jason…
Only time will tell on this.
Jason, or it will be like MY NAME IS BRUCE. I loved that movie, and having them look for the actor that played the character, that’s what I got from readin this, would be very much in the MNIB vein.
I loved Chris Sarandon…I just can’t see anyone else doing his part justice…He was my teenage hearthrob! But I would love to see him in a remake…:)
Agree with Mara. No one else can do this part well except Sarandon. He was also my teenage hearthrob, etc. Ever since I saw him in “A Tale of Two Cities” in English class years after it was made.
They have to bring Evil (Steven Geoffreys) back too then. He was THEE BEST!!! He has to be worked in.
