Fright Night bites into a director

DreamWorks finally cracked down on a director for the inevitable Fright Night remake, handing the reigns over to Craig Gillespie, reports the LA Times. For those who think the name is familiar, this is the same man who directed Lars and the Real Girl along with Mr. Woodcock. Marti Noxon is still knee deep in developing the script being produced by Alison Rosenzweig and Michael De Luca.

Though there were quite some murmurs awhile ago as to what exactly the official plot was on, and as to whether or not this would be a true to the bone remake, still is in question at the moment. The original Fright Night centers on horror movie buff Charlie Brewster (William Ragsdale) who believes that his new next door neightbor Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire, believing he is the cause for several strange deaths that happen within the town. Convinced that his findings are true, he enlists in the help of horror movie personality/actor Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) but quickly realizes he definitely is in over his head.

No word on when DreamWorks expects to start filming, but if Noxon chucks out the script quickly enough we could be hearing about casting pretty soon in the future.
