Friday the 13th remake sequel announced

Bloody-Disgusting says a sequel to the Friday the 13th remake is assured, even though after one of February’s biggest openings, the film had a near 80% drop off (typical of horror films, really). Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, who wrote the remake as well as Freddy vs. Jason, are already writing it.

While the remake focused on a reboot, that took elements from the first four films of the franchse, this one will use the remake as a springboard into new territories. Was the ending of the remake a dream or a set-up for Part 2?

Platinum Dunes is gearing up for the new Nightmare on Elm Street remake, that starts very soon, but August 13th, 2010 is a likely date.
