Fox locks onto Machete

Twentieth Century Fox keeps themselves in the good graces of random fans as they take on Robert Rodriguez’ Machete for domestic distribution, reports Deadline Hollywood. Apparently there were six studios interested in handling the domestic distribution for the mock trailer from Grindhouse that spawned into a feature length film within a matter of months. Among those include Fox, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate, The Weinstein Company and Warner Bros Pictures. There were a couple of bites but in the end Fox took the film under it’s distribution wing, making it a double win for Rodriguez who already is under them for distribution for his upcoming remake of the popular 1987 feature Predator.

After being betrayed by the organization who hired him, an ex-Federale (Danny Trejo) launches a brutal rampage of revenge against his former boss. The cast is pretty unique in itself, including the talents of many actors like Lindsay Lohan, Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Steven Seagal and Don Johnson. The film is co-directed by Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis and now, at this point since the feature is knee deep in post-production, can easily make it’s up in the air release date of April 16th of this year.
