Focus Features grabs The Kids

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 29, 2010 – 7:11 pmNo Comment

The Sundance Film Festival comedy The Kids Are All Right got picked up for distribution by Focus Features. The company picked up the rights for it to be shown off in several countries, becoming not much of a surprise for many who reportedly watched the feature and gobbled it up immediately. With features like A Serious Man, Taking Woodstock, Sin Nombre and Milk under their distribution belt, it’s no surprise that they would end up grabbing onto this comedy that appears quite marketable.

In the film directed by Lisa Cholodenko, three-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening and four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore star as the lesbian parents of two teenaged children conceived by artificial insemination decide to seek out their birth father and introduce him into the family life that their two mothers have built. Upheavel ensues after he is found as family ties are defined, re-defined, and then re-re-defined (Indie Wire).

Also included in the cast is Mia Wasikowska, Mark Ruffalo, Josh Hutcherson and loads more. No exact date has been set for the film to be released in theaters within this year. Focus Features is distributing several films this year which include Greenberg, Babies and The American.
