Finding out more in the Woods

The Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard co-written feature The Cabin in the Woods is one of those productions that’s still heavily kept under wraps with it’s overall story. Luckily for Sci-Fi Wire, actress Amy Acker slipped out a little bit more of the story that we did not know before. Continue reading on to see what she says.:

But though Whedon and Goddard have been tight-lipped about the plot details, Acker let slip that Cabin in the Woods is a creature feature. “There’s a lot of scary monsters,” Acker said in a group interview while promoting the upcoming ABC TV series Happy Town. “It’s a scary movie.”

The film is officially finished, Acker said: Not the 3-D coversion, but the “picture locked” edit. “I got an e-mail yesterday that it was finished,” Acker said. “The cut is finished, so they’ve got it all, well, ‘in the can’ I guess is what the terminology was.”

“These guys are all friends with Drew from Alias [in which Acker also had a role], and they saw it and said that it was awesome,” she said. “So that’s good.”

Is this movie really such a mystery, though? I mean, the title is The Cabin in the Woods. “It is about a cabin in the woods,” Acker confirmed. “You’ve figured it out. Yeah, it’s about a cabin in the woods. It does take from the sort of formula of the horror movie of this group of young kids who go away to a cabin in the woods for the weekend, and everything that happens and what you think is supposed to happen.”

The Cabin in the Woods has a cast that includes Richard Jenkins, Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Connolly, Jesse Williams and many more. Since the film is being converted to 3D, much to the dismay of people who do not like the ongoing trend, it will be released on January 14th, 2011 from MGM.

I've been in love with film ever since I was a kid. The time, effort and passion that runs through a majority most film is something that's always attracted me to this field. What ended up happening with my big appetite for all things going on in the industry turned from random blurbs on Facebook to an unexpected but fun job. College student by day, movie news writer by early morning...or any time in the day and night when more news arrives. Working towards my bachelor's degree in film, what a surprise. I do other things too, like draw, write stories, maintain a social life and feed my pet dragon Lockheed. If you want to know more about me, hunt me down and just ask.
