Fans breathe life into Anchorman 2
Adam McKay announced in late-July that a sequel to the hugely popular Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy was dead. That announcement was followed by an outcry from the fans, who were upset with the news. However, it seems that the outcry has given a sequel life again.
McKay spoke with Collider during the premiere of The Virginity Hit, and revealed that Anchorman 2 may be back in development. “It did, it made a difference. Paramount heard it. Adam Goodman, the President of Paramount, was on the first one so he loves it and when that outcry came, he was kind of excited because he knew it could maybe push it towards happening,” McKay said. Before you get too excited, McKay does mention that nothing is happening right now. “And I haven’t talked to anyone. There’s nothing happening right now but it helped, it helped,” he said.
If the film does happen, then it would also be a while before we see it. “I’m clearly going into it like another movie so if it does happen it’s still two years away or a ways away,” McKay said. So, while the film does have life, it’s still possible it won’t happen.
