Evans stays true to Marvel, takes on Captain America

It was only a small matter of time until Chris Evans either accepted or declined the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America, and today fanboys/girls will be happy or angry to know that he is taking the role in the upcoming Joe Johnston movie, reports Heat Vision Blog. This clearly is not the first time that Evans decided to put on a superhero costume, he’s previously donned the outfit to play The Human Torch in two previous Fantastic Four movies out of the Marvel universe.

Now that the casting is complete for the male lead, it’s a matter of finding out who will end up being Peggy Carter. Hugo Weaving is already part of the cast as the villain Red Skull. The feature is expected to be released on July 22nd, 2011 so a lot of the other casting should be wrapping up pretty quick throughout the duration of this spring in time for filming later on this year.

I've been in love with film ever since I was a kid. The time, effort and passion that runs through a majority most film is something that's always attracted me to this field. What ended up happening with my big appetite for all things going on in the industry turned from random blurbs on Facebook to an unexpected but fun job. College student by day, movie news writer by early morning...or any time in the day and night when more news arrives. Working towards my bachelor's degree in film, what a surprise. I do other things too, like draw, write stories, maintain a social life and feed my pet dragon Lockheed. If you want to know more about me, hunt me down and just ask.

  1. I’m actually stoked about Evans as Cap. I dig the guys work and since he’s such an odd choice I’m hoping that he’ll rock the hell out of the blue.
