Emma Stone to be offered Spider-Man 3D role
Sony’s search for the two female leads in Marc Webb’s Spider-man 3D is mirroring their search for Peter Parker/Spider-man. A shortlist of actresses was revealed, with even more actresses added later on. With the news that both Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy will be appearing in the film, it was beginning to look as another drawn out casting process.
However, Deadine Hollywood reports that Emma Stone (Easy A, Zombieland) may very well be our new Mary Jane Watson. Sony studio is reportedly going to send an offer out to Stone for the role “imminently”. Of course, that doesn’t mean she’ll take the role, but fans seem to think she’s great for the part. Watson won’t be the object of Parker’s (Andrew Garlfield) affection as it was in Raimi’s trilogy. That role will go to Gwen Stacy, but if this film stays close to the comics, will eventually go to Mary Jane Watson.
There’s still several actresses the studio is deciding upon for the role of Stacy. These names include Dianna Agron (Glee), Mia Wasikowska (Alice In Wonderland), Georgina Haig (Wasted on the Young), and Dominique McElligott (Moon). With any luck that role will be filled soon, and they can move onto cast Spider-man’s villain, which is rumored to be The Lizard (here)Â or Venom. Production is scheduled to begin in December.
Spider-Man 3D is scheduled for a release in July of 2012.
She sure is a hottie.
