Efron, Ah Ah! Savior of the universe?

You must be wondering what the title exactly means, unless your familiar with the Flash song sung by Queen. If your are, then you know exactly what’s going to be said next, and yes Zac Efron is in the middle of negotiations to take on the lead role in the Flash Gordon remake.

Here’s a bit more of the scoop from Digital Spy UK.:

“Zac is one of the frontrunners to play Flash and he’s making no secret of the fact that he would love the role,” an insider said.

“Spider-Man has been done and he doesn’t want to follow someone like Tobey Maguire.Flash would be all Zac and a chance for him to make a mark with his own franchise. He’s very excited about the possiblity.”

Breck Eisner is expected to direct the remake being written by scribes Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Columbia Pictures are attached to the feature for distribution, rumored to come out in theaters sometime in 2012.
