DVDebuts for Dark House and Pig Hunt

Fangoria has started up its own DVD label, and on August 6, eight original horror films will be released DTV under the FrightFest banner. The two that have my interest are Dark House (My Review Here) and Pig Hunt. Thanks to Fangoria and Arrow in the Head for the scoopage.

Also, between June 21 and July 19, you can vote for the film that you want to see win a small theatrical run before it hits DVD shelves right HERE.

“Special features on the DARK HOUSE DVD, out August 6, will include a commentary track by Scott and producer Mark Sonoda, the 8 FANGORIA FRIGHTS cable special and the eight FrightFest trailers.”

“In DARK HOUSE, a young acting troupe arrives at the titular haunted attraction to begin work, only to encounter real spooks and bloody violence after getting trapped inside. Combs plays colorful Walston Rey, builder of the haunt, whose showbiz ballyhoo echoes the style of gimmick impresario William Castle. The scream house boasts state-of-the-art holographic FX and also happens to be the site of a nasty children’s massacre from 14 years prior, committed by the demented Ms. Darrode (Diane Salinger from the REST STOP movies). Scott says DARK HOUSE boasts topnotch FX and a heavy dose of gory fun, plus, he adds, “an incredible cast mixing awesome genre vets like Jeff Combs and Diane Salinger with rising stars like Meghan Ory [DECOYS], Bevin Prince, Matt Cohen [SUPERNATURAL’s young John Winchester], Danso Gordon, Shelly Cole, Scott Whyte [REEKER] and Ryan Melander. I think we’ve got acting many cuts above the horror norm.”

“When John takes his San Francisco friends to his deceased uncle’s remote ranch to hunt wild pigs, it seems like a typical guys weekend with guns – despite the presence of John’s sexy girlfriend Brooks. But as John and his crew trek deeper into the forest, they begin tracking the awful truth about his uncle’s demise and the legend of The Ripper — a murderous three-thousand-pound black boar! Their pursuit leads them through fields of marijuana and into the muddy landscape of Big Wallow, involving high-powered weaponry, the violent and unpredictable Tibbs Brothers, massacred emus, a machete-toting Hippie Stranger, vengeful rednecks, and throat-slitting Cult Girls who grow dope by day and worship a Giant Killer Pig by night. By the time the pig hunt is done, no one is innocent – or unscathed. Not for the faint of heart, PIG HUNT is a darkly comic horror film that combines the best of DELIVERANCE, JAWS, and DINER, but remains uniquely Nor-Cal in its tone and scope. It is cinematic punkabilly – fresh, shocking, unforgettable!”

  1. Apparently, the director of Pig Hunt had previously directed Jason X. I wonder if Pig Hunt will be set in the future too. It should be a skin tingler either way.

  2. Jim also directed THE HORROR SHOW and SKINWALKERS. I really dig his stuff.

  3. Regardless, that’s some sweet looking cover art.

  4. dark house won! knew it would win… my friends wanted pig hunt to win but they are crazy people, but we’ll watch it friday…saved it to my blockbuster queue ;)

  5. Looking forward to these as well.

  6. Yeah, I really want to see Fragile when Netflix gets it in 5 days. Mr. Han Solo’s wife, Calista Flockhart has a film role. It’s been while since I’ve seen her face. Which 1 are u looking forward to Jon?
