Dunst is full of Melancholia

Actress Kirsten Dunst is the latest addition to the cast for the upcoming written and directed picture entitled Melancholia from filmmaker Lars von Trier. She’ll be taking on the lead role in this science fiction disaster feature, filling in the role that was previously going to be taken by Penelope Cruz prior to her casting in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, says Deadline. Those now attached to the cast with Dunst include Kiefer Sutherland, Alexander Sarsgaard, Stellan Starsgaard, Charlotte Rampling and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Filming is slated to start up in the summer time with a 2011 release date.

The Spider-Man actress has little on her plate as of recent, completing the mystery feature from Andrew Jarecki entitled All Good Things. No word on the release date on that film as of yet.
