Duchovny confirms the X-Files 3 script is a go

Boy, oh, boy was X-Files: I Want to Believe a major disappointment. It tanked at the box office and failed to recapture what made seasons 1-(at least up to) 6 so great. David Duchovny thinks so too, and confirms X-Files 3 is being written…to please fans.

“It is in the process of being written. One awaits just the green light from Fox, a little disappointed from the relatively poor reception of the second film. The error comes, in my opinion, that the authors strayed too far from the roots of the series. Moreover, the film was released in the summer. The third will be much closer to what the public expects, with government conspiracies, etc.”

Cool, but with no word from series creator Cris Carter or Fox, I think fans should try to hold back excitement, but there’s room for one more good X-Files film, right?
