Dominic Cooper in Captain America?

The rumor mill goes abuzz again with speculation that Dominic Cooper will be taking the role of Howard Stark in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: The First Avenger. For those of you who are completely blanking out of who Howard Stark is, he’s Tony Stark’s (a.k.a. Iron Man) dad.

Salon (via Collider) confirmed off camera that the Mamma Mia! actor would be taking on the role in the upcoming comic book adapted feature. Captain America: The First Avenger is being directed by Joe Johnston and includes the talent of Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan and Samuel L. Jackson. Filming is expected to start next month in London with a set July 22nd, 2011 release date.

Cooper will be appearing alongside Gemma Arterton in the comic turned feature film Tamara Drewe, poised to come out in theaters on September 10th.
