Dividing point for The Deathly Hallows not yet set?

Warner Bros. made it official that the final chapter in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, will be divided into two films. The question still remains as to when that split will occur. It was rumored last summer that it was going to happen after Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermoine (Emma Watson) are captured by the snatchers with Part Two continuing inside Malfoy Manor, but nothing is official just yet. MTV got a chance to speak with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) about the much anticipated split:

“The scripts were set for it.”  ”There was one and two. There had to be a middle point. But they’ve said throughout it could change,” Felton continued. “It’s tricky to shoot as two separate films, so we’ve been trying to think of it as one and just shoot as much as possible and once they’ve edited it down, it will feel like there’s a natural cut somewhere in the middle,”

Felton wouldn’t comment on if the split was going to occur with Harry and his friends getting kidnapped was true, but it sounds like it would be the perfect place for it. The decision to split the film is a smart idea as it would bring the studio more money, and please the fans by going into more detail in the story. It also leaves the director (David Yates) free to make up his mind about the split in post-production.

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows will open on November 19, 2010, with part 2 on July 15, 2011.

  1. I would love if the first film ended right before the final battle scene and the second film was just a two hour long epic Wizard battle.

    Yeah, that would be cool.
