Diesel goes back to Riddick

Vin Diesel’s previous film franchises that he’s been attached to as one of the main stars seem to be getting back on track. First there was the new set of films coming out for The Fast and the Furious series that he’s now right back on, and it happens again with the Chronicles of Riddick. He’ll be reprising the lead role in the third installment simply titled Riddick.

Plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit “Pitch Black” and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the critically panned “Chronicles of Riddick” (Variety).

Universal Pictures is on this third picture, handling domestic distribution not only with this but with Fast Five, the fifth film in the Fast & Furious series we mentioned earlier. Writing and directing Riddick will be David Twohy who previously did the same things on the first two films in the franchise.
