Denis Leary to join Spider-Man 3D?
The principal cast for Marc Webb’s Spider-Man 3Dis ready to go with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as the villain. It’s all a matter of getting the supporting roles in the film cast to begin shooting next month. With Martin cast as Uncle Ben and Sally Field in talks to portray Aunt May, Sony is now looking to cast Gwen Stacy’s family.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Denis Leary (Rescue Me) is in talks to join the cast as Captain Stacy, the father of Gwen Stacy. The character encountered Spider-man several times in the comics, and accidentally killed when Spider-Man fought Doctor Octopus, which lead to Gwen hating Spider-man. It’s unknown if that will happen in the Webb’s film, but that may be something saved for a sequel. The character was last portrayed by James Cromwell in Spider-Man 3.
