Darren Aronofsky will direct Machine Man
The praise from Black Swanhas opened a lot of doors for Darren Aronofsky. He’s become one of the most wanted directors in Hollywood, and has been linked to a number of big-budget films including The Man of Steel. He’s all set to direct Twentieth Century Fox’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 in March (here), but is already looking to future projects.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky has signed on to direct Machine Man. No, it’s his planned remake of Robocop, but an “amped up pop-thriller”,which is being written by Mark Heyman (Black Swan). The film is somewhat based on a manuscript that was written by Max Berry, and was picked up by Mandalay Pictures last year. Aronofsky is hoping to start work on Machine Man after Wolverine 2 is completed. The story focuses on a gadget geek and engineer who wants more than just an average, and wants to improve on himself. He then decides to replace his weak body parts with cybernetic enhancements, but realizes that others want his technology for their own.
