Darren Aronofsky to direct Superman?
After being disappointed with Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns, fans are wanting a director that will make WB/DC Entertainment’s reboot something great. The studio seem to be going in the right direction by having Christopher Nolan “god-fathering” the film, who just recently unveiled a shortlist (here)Â of directors he’s been meeting for the job. Now, another name may have been added that will make fans happy.
Source tell the LA Times that Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler) has been in discussions with Nolan about directing The Man of Steel.
Aronofsky’s latest film, Black Swan is quickly gaining praise, and is looking to become somewhat of work of art.  Like Nolan, Aronofsky began with low-budget indie films, and moved his way up to bigger projects. The idea is to bring his vision to the superhero movie genre in the same way Nolan has done with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. This isn’t the first time Aronofsky has been linked to a Superhero movie either. He was recently rumored to be in talks to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, which he’s yet to confirm or deny. However, Aronofsky has also resisted making big budget films so he could maintain creative control over his projects. A big announcement is expected in soon, so we should know then who’s directing the film.
The Man of Steel is scheduled for a release in December of 2012.
