Dark Shadows Starts Shooting Next Year
In an interview with MTV last week, Tim Burton finally confirmed that he is going to start shooting Dark Shadows sometime next year. This comes just weeks after Johnny Depp addressed Pirates of the Caribbean 4 also being shot next year. The currrent project Burton’s working on, a little thing called Alice in Wonderland, has been keeping him from progressing on Dark Shadows, but once Alice is ready to go, production starts for the duo.
Dark Shadows is a 60′s soap that aired on ABC’s daytime programming from 1966 – 1971. “It’s another challenge because it was such a weird soap opera,” Burton explained. “Part of the energy of it was the tone and weirdness of it. That’s our challenge, to try to capture that vibe.” So part campy melodrama, part serious drama, part ghosts, zombies and vampires, and all together odd; sounds like Burton, sure enough.
Depp will be playing Barnabas Collins, one of the feature characters on the series.
