Dario Argento to direct a 3D Dracula film
Dario Argento, with his Giallo film yet to see an American release (but we reviewed it here from the Omaha Film Festival), announced at the Cannes Film Festival that he is directing a new version of Dracula. According to long time friend and journalist Alan Jones (via his Twitter), the film will start shooting in January, is scheduled to be his first 3D film, and a period film, that is a “faithful adaptation of the Stoker novel”.
Long time Argento fans remember his ill-advised take on another classic monster, in the maligned Phantom of the Opera (1998). And yes, the poster in this post is some early official art for the film. Can Argento pull this off? Are you horror fans excited?

Why is anyone giving this guy greens to make movies? For anyone that has seen “Giallo” my sympathies. I spent four days in hospital having my eyes put back in their sockets after that film sodomised them relentlessly. The nasally endowed actor that played the main part, I won’t name him thus sparing further embarrassment, must have been delirious when he signed the contract to appear or Argento held his favorite Pekinese to ransom.
Also, the make-up artist must have had the persuasive powers of Rasputin to land this number considering the job he did on the “second” character.
