Cranston is going to Mars

Submitted by Melissa Molina on January 14, 2010 – 1:00 pmNo Comment

Bryan Cranston, best known for his lead role in the hit AMC show Breaking Bad, is the latest person to be cast onto Walt Disney Pictures’ live action/animation hybrid movie John Carter of Mars. The eleven book series is being directed by Andrew Stanton, based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The story centers on a Civil War veteran (Taylor Kitsch) who finds himself mysteriously transported to Mars, where he becomes involved with the planet’s warring people (Heat Vision Blog).

Along with Kitsch and Cranston, those among the cast include Willem DaFoe, Dominic West, Mark Strong, Lynn Collins, James Purefoy and Samantha Morton. Producing the picture is Jim Morris and Susan Montford with Stanton and author/screenwriter Michael Chabon penning the script. The film is projected to come out in theaters sometime in 2012.
