Could Batman 3 be in IMAX 3-D?
Several scenes for The Dark Knight were shot in IMAX, but this time around the sequel could be completely shot in IMAX 3-D.  At the Dallas Film Society, Cinematical got a chance to sit down with Wally Pfister about the future of the Batman franchise, and the possibility that the film will be shot in IMAX 3-D:
“What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting,” Pfister said. “[Director] Brad Bird was [saying] ‘you’ve got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!’ I was like, yeah, I’ve talked to Chris about that.”
“I did it for one shot of The Dark Knight because he said, you have to say you did it, and literally I had this strapped to my shoulder and I was carrying it. But I think Chris is game for doing something interesting like that, Lord knows that the 3-D fad might pass by the time that summer comes around.”
With Batman 3 being one of the most anticipated comic book movies, people will be eager to pay to see it in 3-D. But I highly doubt that Warner Bros. will be pressuring Nolan to convert the film. We won’t hear any official news until this year’s Comic Con when DC Comics Entertainment makes their big announcement.
