Cooper’s Town shows off some films
Cooper’s Town Productions is the company co-founded by Philip Seymour Hoffman and Emily Ziff that was a part of the creation of the Sundance Film Festival feature called Jack Goes Boating. Earlier today they announced to Variety what else we should be seeing sometime in the future from the few years old production company.
The first one that’s jumped up is The Well, which stars Mary-Louise Parker and Guy Pearce. The story line revolves around a well-to-do Manhattan couple whose obsessive pursuit of salvation ultimately leads to destruction. The second on the list is Mr. Crumpacker and the Man from the Letter, a story about an overbearing boss who decides to go in search of the meaning of life, even though he lacks any capacity for introspection. Hoffman stars as Mr. Crumpacker with Kazuo Ohno directing the feature.
Other projects that are on the back burner at the moment include an untitled Mississippi basketball flick that is an atypical sports drama set on the cusp of the civil rights movement and based on Dean Colvard’s tome “Mixed Emotions.” The last one on the list is The Farm, the story is about of a Brooklyn husband and father of two who, battling a career downturn, finds a renewed sense of purpose when transforming his backyard into a working, urban farm. Penning the adaptation of the New York Magazine article turned feature is scribe Donal Lardner Ward.
A couple of the features that have already been labeled under this particular production company include the Academy Award winning movie Capote and The Savages.
