truegritThe Coen brothers continue on their continuing rampage to adapt the 1969 film “True Grit”. The two are talking to actors Josh Brolin and Matt Damon to add onto the expanding cast. Variety has more on the casting news.:

Jeff Bridges is set to star as U.S. marshal Rooster Cogburn (Daily Variety, Sept. 11). Damon would play the lawman who teams with Cogburn and a 14-year-old girl to track her father’s killer into hostile Indian territory. Glen Campbell played the part in the original John Wayne starrer. Josh Brolin is set to play the villain.

This Coen’s version of “True Grit” is more so inspired from the 1968 novel written by Charles Portis. The film is under Paramount Pictures with Joel and Ethan Coen, Steven Spielberg and Scott Rudin producing. The expected release date for this remake and novel adaptation will be possibly between late 2010 to early 2011.
